Floridians love Canadians: A recent economic study by BMO reveals that Canadians are playing an important role in Florida’s housing market recovery. Canada is Florida’s #1 source of foreign tourists and the state’s #1 foreign buyer of real estate. Sarasota-Bradenton-Venice is the #1 area in Florida for Canadian buyers. Drawing them, beyond “great weather and beautiful beaches”, are the relative bargain prices still being paid for Florida property. Anna Maria Island has been named the #4 island destination in the US by TripAdvisor.com. It is in incredible company, with Kauai and Maui, Hawaii, San Juan Island in Washington and Marco Island, Florida. TripAdvisor said “Anna Maria is an absolute slice of laid-back paradise”. Spring training attendance sets records in Sarasota! The Baltimore Orioles broke a franchise record with 120,455 fans in attendance for 17 spring training games. Read more: Orioles spring training record

Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, was recently in Sarasota to film a reality tv series called The Haney Project for The Golf Channel. While in town he also did batting practice with his hometown Baltimore Orioles. Read more:   huffington post: phelps golf
