Some recent Suncoast area news: Existing home sales and prices in Southwest Florida set an eight-year high in May, despite the annual departure of snowbirds and a lull in leisure tourism – two major drivers of area housing purchases. Sarasota’s wire-walker Nik Wallenda has completed rehearsals at Nathan Benderson Park for his next incredible feat. On Sunday, he will skywalk across the Grand Canyon!! When he steps on to the wire at 9:00 pm, as many as 18 cameras, two harnessed to his chest, will provide panoramic views. New home construction across Southwest Florida has climbed to its highest level since the Great Recession. Builders in the region enjoyed n uptick in May, amid pent-up demand from buyers and a shortage of existing single family homes for sale.
