Dear friends,
Fall has arrived in Florida after a very hot and wet summer. The extreme heat and humidity have subsided, giving us comfortable, warm weather and beautiful evenings. The gulf is still very warm and the lawns and vegetation are lush and prolific.
Our friends from the north have started to arrive for the winter, evidenced by busier traffic and out of state license plates.
It’s wonderful to come back to the south and know that your home has been meticulously managed while you’ve enjoyed the summer in the north or in your home country. Our Housekeeping Service prepares your home for your arrival to the south. We’ll stock your cupboard and fridge with your favorite groceries and wines as part of our Errand Services. We’ll even have your favorite wine decanted and drinkable.
Our Home Watch Service ensures that, while you are out of state, your property is inspected weekly and you are emailed a report with our findings. Your garden is manicured as part of our Horticulture Maintenance Service and your pool is balanced and kept clean as part of our Pool Maintenance Service.
It’s very important to have a trusted expert minding your southern residence while you’re out of the state or country.
STONE CRAB SEASON IS FINALLY HERE! Stone Crab Season started on October 15. Crabbers pulled up traps and are delivering claws to busy restaurants and hungry customers along the Gulf Coast. Walt’s Fish Market in Sarasota has been filled to capacity for lunch and dinner every day since the tasty seafood has been freshly available. Initial results indicate a good crab season this year. SAHARA DUST STORMS CONTRIBUTE TO A QUIET ATLANTIC STORM SEASON : A burst of African dust in June, pouring over tropical regions of the Atlantic, appears to be a major reason this hurricane season has been remarkably subdued so far. What also might be a plus for Florida: the dust might flare up on a cyclical basis. If so, future seasons might be tempered as well, says a research meteorologist for the University of Miami. Here’s more…. Dust Might Subdue Future Storm Seasons
NEW HOME CONSTRUCTION ON THE GULF KEYS : New home construction on Southwest Florida’s Barrier Islands is experiencing a new burst of activity. Custom homebuilders weren’t as affected by the Great Recession as much as larger housing developments were. The economic recovery has the entire construction community enjoying an extremely busy year. There’s more here: Gulf Coast Keys enjoy a burst of construction activity
A SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT BEACH : A couple recently moved to Florida from California and have been on a quest, by process of elimination, to find the best “traditional Florida beaches – those without big condos nearby”. The Gulf Coast of Florida has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, so choosing one is quite a task. They discovered Coquina Beach by accident by taking a wrong turn while looking for Anna Maria Island, and it’s now their favorite spot. It’s now on my list of must-see spots.
